Freedom

I was over at a friend's house a few days ago and the topic of conversation switched over to politics. He felt that we should give up some of our freedoms in order to be safe. I couldn't disagree more. Our country was founded by people risking their life to obtain freedoms they didn't have in their home country. I don't want some cowardly terrorist to mar their bravery. I would gladly give my life if it meant that my country could remain free. Unfortunately, with the PATRIOT Act and other recent legistlation, our country is headed down a path whose results I fear.
